Special arrivals Wisdom natural turkeys arrive this month! Since we first profiled owners Jay and Cindy Wisdom at their poultry farm on the plains of Northeastern Colorado in our Nov. 12, 2004, issue (CLICK HERE TO READ) their business has continued to take off. Ranch Foods Direct now sells their eggs in addition to their chicken and all-natural Thanksgiving turkeys. Jay says their production of both turkeys and chickens has recently doubled and their egg orders are up too. The Wisdoms, who have been processing their birds right on their farm, are hoping to open a new custom processing plant in the neighboring town of Haxtun, Colorado, so the area can process more local meats. It would be a great rural development project for the community, and we wish them well with their exciting plans. |

In our last newsletter, Melissa Marts mentioned that popular local chef Lawrence “Chip” Johnson recently bought Colorado Springs’ eclectic dining venue, The Warehouse. With its wonderful unusual dining spaces, this just might be the best restaurant in Colorado Springs for a holiday party, large or small. That is, if you can still get in. Their bookings calendar is filling up fast. Chip’s excitement about his new venture is obvious.
