Beefing up school lunches
in District 11 schools

By Melissa Marts

The week before Christmas break, Ranch Foods Direct and School District 11 were diligently handing out free burger samples to remind the Colorado Springs community that a great gift was now available in the D-11 high schools.

Channel 5/30 news was there to capture the moment and share how Ranch Foods and D-11 have successfully overcome barriers of seasonality, supply and price to bring the hormone and antibiotic free hamburgers to the high school students in the city’s largest school district.

It just so happens that Rick Hughes, Director of Nutrition Services for D-11, had watched the popular Ranch Foods Direct infomercial on cable the night before he was contacted to discuss the possibility of purchasing Callicrate Beef natural meat products. The fact that he was already sold on the importance of whole food vs. processed food further solidified the partnership.

Spread the word about the new Callicrate Beef quarter-pounders if you know students or staff at any of the D-11 high schools. The D-11 community now has another choice at the lunch counter.
